Threatening
Officers responded to Stover Hall regarding a student receiving threatening emails. The student explained that she was approached on TikTok by a man offering $1,000 to help pay her rent. She deposited a check for that amount, which appeared in her bank account. The man has now sent threatening messages and disturbing images, demanding she return the money. Officers advised her to block the contact and informed the suspect that law enforcement was involved, also notifying her bank. The suspect immediately ceased contact. The student plans to report the incident to her bank, and officers will follow up to ensure the funds are recovered and the threats cease.

The officer updated the complainant that the student was safe, and no assistance was needed.
