Welfare Check A police dispatcher reported that a student's mother contacted authorities, worried about her daughter's well-being due to no communication since Friday. An officer responded to Helaman Halls, where the student resides, and spoke with her. The student reassured the officer that she was fine and advised her to contact her mother. The officer then cleared the scene.
Drugs – DUI A driver was arrested for DUI at the Y Trailhead after officers responded to a call about a group smoking marijuana with a child present. Upon arrival, officers detected a strong marijuana odor and observed the group smoking and drinking from cans. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol and marijuana before and during the visit. Field sobriety tests confirmed impairment, leading to charges of DUI, open container, possession of marijuana, and license revocation. Chemical tests showed THC and alcohol in the driver’s system; blood results are pending. Another individual was cited for marijuana possession. The vehicle was impounded, and the case will be forwarded to local prosecutors for review.
Campus Alarms Officers responded to two alarms and a lockout. The campus is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
