Welfare Check A BYU officer responded to the Culinary Support Center to conduct a welfare check after a spouse expressed concern that her husband had not returned home from work at his usual time. Upon arrival, the officer located the husband at his workplace, busy in the bakery. His employer confirmed that he often works late during this season to complete orders. The officer then contacted the wife and the husband, reassuring her of his well-being and confirming his safety.
Fire Alarm Officers responded to the Joseph F. Smith Building on a report of a fire alarm. Before arriving, dispatch confirmed that the cause of the alarm was a cooking error. Officers confirmed that there was no smoke and no flames. They met with faculty who confirmed that the alarm was caused by heat generated by their culinary arts class.
Theft A campus officer responded to a report of a missing bike at Merrill Hall, believed to have been stolen during the Thanksgiving holiday. Surveillance footage provided suspect information, and detectives now have a lead on the individual responsible.
Information An officer took a phone report from a student employee who expressed a desire to report the loss of some BYU issued keys but had no information about them. The student was provided with the information that would be needed to file a police report. The student will contact the police department when they have the necessary key information.
Medical Police and medical were called to the SHC. The InstaCare clinic requested that a female patient be transported to Utah Vally Hospital by paramedics.
Medical The BYU Police Department was notified of an injury at the IPF involving a soccer player who had collided with another player, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. Upon arrival, officers learned from event staff that the player's mother was present and planned to transport him to the ER.
Suspicious Officers were dispatched to Lot 55 in response to a complaint about a white truck allegedly occupying the parking lot unlawfully. Upon arrival, they located the vehicle with a student inside who was parking a BYU vehicle. The student was identified and was seen preparing to leave the scene in the white truck after parking the BYU vehicle.
