Abandoned Vehicle An officer responded to a complaint regarding an abandoned Nissan Sentra at Lot 52 at Wymount Terrace, near 11 A and 10 B. The vehicle, reported by BYU Parking to have been left for over six months and noted to have a flat tire, was tagged for removal after ten days. A notice was affixed to the vehicle informing the owner of the pending action. The officer or dispatchers were unable to reach the registered owner. The registration had also expired over two years ago.
Suspicious Person On the BYU campus, a report was made about a suspicious adult male in the area of the IT building. Responding officers searched the area and eventually located the individual, who had left behind personal property when he departed the scene. The man was identified and the investigation concluded with the recovery of his belongings. He was allowed to leave the area on foot without incident.
Suspicious A car owner in Lot 59 reports finding his front license plate on his windshield with no explanation, suspecting a possible hit-and-run incident. The owner is unsure how the plate ended up there, as there is no damage to the vehicle. The event occurred sometime today between 7:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m., with no security footage available.
Fire – Gas Smell A resident reported smelling natural gas and burning odors near their water heater. Fire personnel investigated and found the smell was coming from the downstairs neighbor's overcooked pizza. Both apartments were checked, and no gas leaks or fire hazards were found.
Drug Smell A strong odor of Marijuana was reported from the Riviera Apartments (A-D). The area was checked, and the odor was detected but quickly dissipated, with the source remaining unidentified. The complainant was advised to call again if the smell is noticed later.
Medical Officers responded to Helaman Halls Building 9 at BYU to assist a male experiencing severe stomach pain. Provo Fire and Rescue arrived first, evaluated him, and cleared him without transport. The male was left in the care of his roommates.
