An officer responded to Lot 52 near Building 10B at Wymount Terrace to impound a 2016 Nissan Sentra that had been abandoned by a former student for over six months. The vehicle had previously been tagged for removal by officers, and attempts to contact the registered owner were unsuccessful.

No injuries were reported, and the subject vehicle was parked and unoccupied at the time of the collision. During the investigation, the officer located the other involved vehicle and identified the responsible party. The incident was determined to be unintentional, and both parties exchanged information.

The driver stated that he accidentally backed into a parked, unoccupied delivery truck. The van sustained damage to the rear doors, and the truck’s lift gate was bent. The officer took photographs of both vehicles and uploaded them to the case. The driver was referred to file a report with his supervisor and BYU Risk Management

Accident
Officers responded to an accident in the parking lot of Building 10C at the Wymount Terrace apartments on BYU campus. Phone contact was made with the complainant, the owner of a parked motorcycle, who reported that his motorcycle had been struck and no other vehicle was present at the scene. A note was located on the motorcycle containing contact information for the other party, an explanation of the accident, and a willingness to compensate the motorcycle owner for the damage. A copy of the note was provided to the complainant so he could contact the other party.

Welfare Check
Officers responded to a welfare check involving a male patient who had fallen while walking to his car in the area of East Phillips Lane on BYU campus. Passersby assisted the patient to his vehicle but expressed concerns about his ability to safely drive. Provo Medical was summoned to evaluate the patient. After assessment, the patient was found to be cognizant and aware enough to drive home. Medics released the patient, and officers cleared the call.
