Lost Property
An officer took a phone report of a lost wallet. The officer provided the complainant with a case number and information regarding resources for replacement documents.

Motorist Assist
Officers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle blocking traffic on South Campus Drive. Upon contact, they spoke with the auto shop, who confirmed awareness of the vehicle and assured them they would dispatch a wrecker promptly. With assistance from officers and students, the vehicle was safely moved off the roadway. The auto shop arrived shortly after, and officers coordinated traffic direction while the wrecker loaded the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed back to the auto shop for further handling.

Welfare Check
Officers responded to Heritage Halls for a welfare check on a student. They successfully located the individual and collaborated with campus resources, including CAPS, to assess the situation. After thorough evaluation, it was determined that the student required additional professional assistance at a hospital.

Accident – Hit & Run
An officer responded to Lot 26 to take a report of a hit-and-run incident. Upon arrival, the officer observed a Honda sedan with damage to its driver's side rear end, which was documented with photographs. Review of nearby camera footage revealed that at 1555 hours, a black Ford F-150 entered the lot and attempted to park beside the Honda. During this maneuver, the Ford F-150 struck the Honda on the driver's rear side with significant force, causing the Honda to move on camera. The officer later located the other driver and issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.

911 Hang-up
An officer was dispatched to Wyview Park apartment complex in response to an abandoned 911 hang-up call. Upon arriving and conducting a thorough patrol of the area, the officer was unable to locate any signs of distress or disturbance.

Fire – Gas Smell
An officer responded with Provo Fire to a report of a gas smell in an apartment at Wymount Terrace. Upon arrival, the complainant reported a strong natural gas odor around his water heater, noting maintenance workers have responded three times since August 7 without resolution. The fire captain detected a carbon monoxide level near 30 parts per million, considered low but concerning due to the presence of a baby in the residence. Housing maintenance on-call and Enbridge Gas were contacted to investigate and address the issue. The fire department said it was safe to be in the apartment since the windows to the room were open.

Fraudulent – Information
The complainant was searching for BYU football tickets online and came across a Facebook account titled "BYU football ticket Marketplace" that appeared legitimate. Through Facebook messages, he arranged to purchase five tickets for himself and his roommates for a total of $150 via Venmo. After making the payment, he received the tickets but soon discovered they were not valid. The Facebook account was later reported by multiple individuals and was taken down. The complainant's bank was able to refund his money. He reported that several others had been scammed by the same suspect(s) and requested this incident be documented. The report has been forwarded to Investigations for further action.

Found Property
An officer met with the reporting party at Lot 4, who turned in a lost wallet. The wallet owner is from out of state and not affiliated with BYU campus. Attempts to locate a contact phone number through state records linked to the driver's license were unsuccessful. The lost wallet has been secured and was taken to the WSC lost and found for safekeeping.

Lost Property
A student contacted the BYU Police Department after losing several personal items while hiking at the trailhead, including his driver’s license, one debit card, two credit cards, and his student ID. The department has collected all relevant information regarding the lost items and has filed a lost property report to assist in their recovery.

Campus Alarms
Over the weekend, officers responded to a total of nine alarms across various buildings, providing assistance to BYU Security.

Suspicious Person
An officer received a report regarding a suspected delayed trespassing incident at HL Hinckley female dorm. An unidentified individual was observed entering the dormitory and leaving plastic bags containing advertisements and two Red Bull drinks at each door. This incident appears to be connected to a series of similar unauthorized advertisements found around campus, particularly within Red Bull magazine stands. The case is currently under investigation.

Carbon Monoxide – Alarm
A carbon monoxide (CO) alarm was reported at International Housing, WYMount. Responding officers, accompanied by BYU housing maintenance, Provo Fire, and Enbridge Gas, contacted the resident outside their apartment. The resident stated that the stove had been in use when the alarm sounded. The officer observed a high frequency of similar incidents in the area. The CO alarm was acknowledged and silenced, and the area was thoroughly checked, ventilated, and cleared. The complainants were permitted to return to their residence. Risk Management was notified of the incident.

Medical
An officer and BYUEMS were dispatched to the RB in response to a report of a female in pain. Upon arrival, they found the female on the ground, complaining of discomfort. She was treated and released at the scene.

Accident
A very minor crash occurred in lot 37. An officer responded to take care of the incident.

Information
A minor contacted an off-duty police officer, reporting that she had been kicked out of her home by her mother and had experienced abuse from her father. The off-duty officer contacted the Provo Police to request officers respond and take an official report. This report is being documented for informational purposes and will be linked to the official Provo Police report.

Accident – Hit & Run
A delayed report of a hit-and-run accident, believed to have occurred on September 4, 2025, in the southeastern portion of Lot 26, is currently under investigation. Police contacted a reporting party via phone and gathered available information. Review of some video footage has also helped with some investigative details.

Sick Person
An officer and BYUEMS were dispatched to the Music Building for a report of a female in pain. BYUEMS responded and began evaluating the female.

Accident – Hit & Run
On September 4th or 5th, 2025, an officer was dispatched to investigate a delayed hit-and-run incident reported in either Lot 37 or Lot 41. Upon arrival, the officer documented the details of the incident but found no leads or suspects to pursue for further investigation.

Information
A report was received via a group messenger app regarding suspicious and potentially fraudulent activity. An officer contacted the parties involved by phone to discuss the situation and assess the details related to possible fraud. No monetary loss was reported during the incident. The officer provided education to the parties on safe online practices to prevent future issues.

Found Property
An officer was dispatched to the engineering building to take possession of some found property. Prior to arriving at the scene, the officer contacted the property owner and advised him to retrieve his belongings. The owner later arrived at the location and collected his property.

Found Property
An officer was dispatched to retrieve property and was instructed to deliver the items to the Lost and Found at the (WSC) Wilkenson Student Center. The officer transported the items to the WSC and handed them over to the Lost and Found desk.

Citizen Contact
A report was filed regarding suspicious text messages sent through a chat program, which requested personal information from the complainant. The complainant stated that personal details were divulged in connection with a potential merchandise transaction. No money was exchanged during the incident. The suspect has been identified, blocked, and removed from the group chat. An officer provided the complainant with guidance on internet safety to prevent further incidents.

Welfare Check
The complainant contacted authorities to request a welfare check on his daughter, who is attending BYU and has diabetes. His monitor alerted him that her blood sugar was dangerously low, and he was unable to reach her. Officers contacted the daughter, who was awakened and found to have a slightly low blood sugar level, but not as severe as indicated. She was alert and responsive, took appropriate measures to stabilize her condition, and subsequently contacted her parents. Both the daughter and her parents were satisfied with her condition, and no medical or further assistance was required.

Chest Pain
A female student at Heritage Halls experienced chest pains upon waking. The BYU Police Department and Provo Fire Department responded to the scene for a medical assessment. After evaluating her condition, the fire department determined that her symptoms were not severe enough to require hospital transport. She was advised to rest and to call back if her condition worsened, with the option of being transported to the ER by ambulance if needed. No further action was taken.

Accident Hit & Run
On the evening of September 3rd, 2025, a hit-and-run incident was reported at the Riviera Apartments parking lot. The vehicle sustained minor superficial damage to its side and wheel. An officer responded to the report, contacted the party involved, and documented the incident. Currently, no camera footage or witnesses have been identified.

Medical
A bicycle accident occurred near Helaman Halls involving an adult male who reportedly hit his head on the pavement and may have lost consciousness. BYU EMS, Provo Fire, and BYU Police responded to the scene. The patient, who was conscious, breathing, and alert upon arrival, sustained road rash to his face and shoulder after wrecking his bike on a curb. No other individuals, vehicles, or pedestrians were involved. The patient received on-scene treatment and was released by EMS.

Suspicious
An officer responded to May Hall regarding a suspicious text message received by an RA. After reviewing the messages, the officer was instructed to contact the suspect and issue a warning for electronic communication harassment. The officer called the suspect, who acknowledged the warning and understood that further communication would result in charges.

Found Property
An officer responded to a report of a possible backpack theft at the Cannon Center. The complainant, who had an active AirTag on the bag, tracked its location to the WSC. The officer accompanied the complainant to the WSC, where the backpack was located in the lost and found. The complainant retrieved the bag, confirming that nothing was missing.

Information
A report was received regarding an attempted fraud incident on social media. The officer contacted the individual by phone and confirmed that no monetary loss had occurred. However, the interaction raised concerns regarding potential risks. The officer discussed the importance of safeguarding personal information on social media platforms. The incident has been documented for informational purposes at this time.

Seizures – Medical
An ambulance assist was dispatched to the Wilkenson Center following reports of a person who had fainted and possibly experienced a seizure. BYU EMS and Provo Fire responded promptly to treat and evaluate the individual. BYU Police arrived on scene during the response, as the scene was in the process of clearing. The patient received on-site treatment and was later released.

Citizen Contact
A report was received by BYU police regarding an individual sleeping on the sidewalk near Lot 30, west of J Dwags. The caller was unsure of the person's gender due to their bundled appearance. Upon arrival, officers identified the individual as a female experiencing homelessness. They checked on her well-being, and she confirmed she was simply tired and needed rest. After gathering her belongings, she departed the area. No further action was necessary.

Alarm – Robbery
Officer responded to the CONE location following a duress alarm activation. Prior to arrival, dispatch reviewed camera footage. Upon arrival, the officer discovered that a new clerk was on duty and had attempted to restart the computer. In the process, the clerk inadvertently pressed the panic button, mistaking it for a computer restart command. The situation was resolved without further incident.

Accident
BYU Police were dispatched to a delayed accident. The reporting party believed their rental van had been damaged while it was parked in Lot 2 on BYU Campus last week. An officer reviewed camera footage but was unable to locate footage of the incident. The reporting party was advised on how to proceed through an insurance claim. This report is for documentation purposes only.

Accident
Officer responded to Lot 49 on a minor non-reportable accident. Officer took accident report and texted both driver's exchange information.

Abandoned 911
An officer was dispatched to Brigham Square on a report of an abandoned 911 call. Prior to his arrival, dispatch contacted the individual who had accidentally called 911 and verified that they were okay. Dispatch cancelled the officer's response.

Property Damage
A complainant reported that his wife’s 2024 Honda CR-V was door-dinged while parked in Lot 53 on the BYU Campus. The involved driver admitted to accidentally opening his door into her vehicle and apologized. Accordingly, the parties exchanged information to facilitate restitution.

Traffic Offense
On September 3, 2025, at 1600 hours, a complainant reported an incident involving a BYU vehicle and an electric scooter rider. The complainant stated that while riding their scooter in the roadway, the vehicle honked at them for being in the roadway and then passed on the right, waving its arms as it drove past. The officer identified the vehicle involved and notified the department of the incident. Follow-up will be conducted after speaking with the employee associated with the vehicle.

Welfare Check
The BYU Police Department received a report indicating that a student had accessed the Safe-Walk app but did not check out after reaching her destination. Officers responded to her residence to ensure her safety. After an initial search, they were unable to locate her as she had entered her residence and fallen asleep and was not answering her phone. Eventually, officers made contact and confirmed that she was safe.

Found Property
An officer responded to a complaint regarding a found bicycle permit. The permit was handed over to BYU Parking, who confirmed that they had recently issued a replacement permit to the student after the original was lost. The original permit was collected by BYU Parking for reissuance.

Threats
The BYU Police Department received a tip from an individual regarding a potential threat aimed at BYU. The concern was prompted by TikTok videos showing someone urinating on the Helaman Hall sign and the BYU cougar statue near LVES, accompanied by a caption stating, "None of the dorms are safe come tomorrow." Originally reported this morning, the videos have since gained additional views. The case has been forwarded to the investigative team for further follow-up.

Theft
An officer responded to a report from a student regarding a missing bike. The student explained that her bike had been stolen a week earlier from the bike rack north of the West View Building. She had contacted BYU security, who attempted to locate the bike but were unsuccessful. The BYU Security Supervisor indicated that recently tagged bikes not removed are taken to a designated storage location for abandoned bikes on campus. The officer checked all storage areas but was unable to find the bike. The student stated her bike was not registered on campus and could not provide details such as make, model, or serial number. An attempt to review surveillance footage was hindered by the rooftop of the new bike area, which obstructed the camera’s view.

Suspicious
The BYU Police Department received delayed reports of a suspicious individual near the botany ponds. Described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall with a slender build, blonde hair styled in pigtails, and a beard, the person was reported about 15 minutes before officers arrived. By the time police responded to the scene, the individual had already left the area.

Theft
An officer contacted a student by phone regarding a reported stolen bike from Wymount Terrace. The student stated that he last saw the bike on August 14, 2025, between buildings 17C and 16E. Upon returning to campus for the new school session, he discovered the bike was missing and the lock had been cut. There are no surveillance cameras around the bike racks at Wymount Terrace 17. The student also mentioned that he did not register the bike and does not possess the serial number.

Information
A scooter stolen from the Smithfield house was recovered by an officer after being described to the owner. The officer located the scooter inside the equipment room door on the southeast corner of the Smithfield house. To confirm ownership, the owner entered his password, successfully accessing the scooter. The scooter was then returned to its owner, with no further action taken.

Suspicious Person
On September 2, 2025, at 2302 hours, officers responded to the MTC following a report of a suspicious person dressed in black observed on the sidewalk across from the Northeast delivery entrance. Officers conducted extra patrols in the area, during which the sprinklers activated where the individual was last seen. The suspect had already left the scene prior to the officers' arrival.

Trespassing
Officers were dispatched to the RB Field after observing a group of soccer players trespassing. Upon contact, it was determined that the players had either squeezed through a locked gate or jumped the fence to access the field. Officers advised the group to leave and informed them that they should not return unless they play during scheduled times. The group believed that, due to the holiday, they could play freely, but officers clarified that a locked gate indicates the field is closed. The group complied and left the area. Officers will conduct follow-up checks on the field throughout the day.

Theft
An officer responded to a report of a theft of an electric scooter. The officer made phone contact with the complainant, took their report, and provided the complainant with a case number for the incident. No current suspect information.

Possible Theft
An officer responded to a report of a possible theft or mistaken laundry issue in the laundry room. The complainant explained that they had left their laundry in a washer for a few hours, but upon returning and transferring their clothes to a dryer, they discovered their laundry was missing and had been replaced with someone else's. The complainant coordinated with resident assistants to issue a building-wide notification, requesting residents to check their laundry and report any information.

Trespassing
The BYU Police Department responded to reports of possible trespassing at Heritage Halls. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a resident from Heritage 8, who reported that approximately 30 minutes earlier, a group of mostly females and one male entered his apartment uninvited and began filming with their cell phones. Contact was made with the individuals, and the matter was resolved without further action.

Campus Alarm and Lockouts
Officers also responded to 17 alarms and 9 lockouts over the weekend.

Medical
An officer and BYUEMS were dispatched to the LVES for a report of a medical. While the officer was en route, BYUEMS arrived and stated that they did not need law enforcement assistance.

Welfare Check
An officer responded to the MPS security booth after the security officer there failed to respond to radio or phone contact. Upon arrival, the officer found no immediate issues. Security dispatch later confirmed they had been experiencing radio problems, but otherwise, all security operations were functioning normally.

Sick Person
A 36-year-old male experiencing a panic attack was assisted by officers and Provo medics after being found in the SFH restroom in need of medical attention. The medical team provided care and safely released him to his wife. Following the incident, police and medics took no further action.

Found Property
A complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, reported discovering a wallet in the gutter near the cone. The brown leather wallet contained a broken debit card, a driver’s license, a health insurance card, and an Active Attorney identification card. The victim was contacted and retrieved the wallet from the police station, stating he believed he had left it on his car when driving away from the cone. He also confirmed that nothing appeared to be missing from the wallet.

Citizen Contact
An officer responded to Lot 2 regarding a missing juvenile report. The parent of a 17-year-old visiting Provo reported that their son had left to visit friends on campus but had not returned as scheduled, and his cell phone was dead. Upon contact, the officer learned that the teen had just returned home, and the parent no longer required assistance.

Suspicious
Officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle with an individual underneath. Upon arrival, the officer observed the person beneath the vehicle, appearing to be changing the oil. The individual was contacted and reassured that they were fine and did not require any assistance.

Fire Call – Gas Smell
BYU Police responded to Wyview Park for a natural gas smell. An officer responded, along with BYU housing and Provo Fire/EMS, and found that the tenant was struggling to light their oven. BYU Housing educated the tenant, and advised that Fire and Police were not required.

Welfare Check
An officer was dispatched to check on a student who had lost his dorm key. The dorm key was located.

Disturbance
The complainant reported that he left his first-floor window open in his apartment, and he and his wife could hear screaming and yelling from other students in the area. The complainant's wife is pregnant, and she was trying to sleep. The officer contacted the complainant, who requested an officer to check the area. An officer drove through the complex but was unable to locate anyone causing a disturbance in that area.

Medical
Provo Fire responded to a report of a female patient experiencing an allergic reaction to peanuts. The patient had ingested a cookie believed to be nut-free, but soon exhibited allergic symptoms after discovering it contained nuts. During the incident, her EpiPen was found to be non-functional. Medical responders administered emergency care and transported the patient to the emergency room, where she received appropriate treatment and recovery assistance.

Accident
A vehicle collision occurred in the parking lot 39 West of the Richards Building on BYU campus. The report was delayed, but upon response, officers confirmed there were no injuries. An officer responded to the scene, contacted the caller, and left a note. Attempts to contact the other involved driver have been unsuccessful. The officer successfully contacted the at-fault driver, gathered necessary information, and provided a case number to those involved.

Medical
An officer and BYUEMS were dispatched to the WSC for a report of an allergic reaction from a bee sting. The officer arrived and found that the complainant was not having a reaction, but was wanting to have the stinger removed from his finger. BYUEMS arrived and helped the patient.
