Upon arrival, the officer found that the standard key did not fit or operate the lock on the alarm box. An officer and Provo Paramedics responded to the Bean Museum regarding an employee who had sustained cuts to his fingers while working. Upon arrival, the employee requested transportation to a medical facility. Paramedics provided the necessary care and transported the individual to the hospital, with no law enforcement assistance required.
Suspicious
Law enforcement responded to reports of a disruptive male near the Law Building, who later entered the Wilkinson Student Building. Despite efforts to locate him on campus, officers were unable to find the individual in person but identified him through BYU surveillance footage without obtaining any identifying details. The original complainant confirmed no crime had occurred, and officers are continuing their efforts to identify the individual. Building security has been notified and is investigating the matter further.

An emergency response was dispatched to the Cougar eat following a report of an allergic reaction. Security is checking for potential impoundment. No matching bikes were found on Facebook Marketplace or KSL classifieds. The case will be forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
Information
BYU Police were dispatched to a possible stolen property at the EB. After speaking with the complainant, she checked her "Find my iPhone" app and saw that her property was still at the EB. The complainant stated she did not want any law enforcement action taken.
Welfare Check
A law enforcement officer responded to an individual sleeping in the tunnel east of ELLB. Upon arrival, the officer located the person inside the ELLB and learned that they wished to return to a detox program in Orem, which they had previously walked away from. The officer contacted the program, which confirmed they would welcome the individual back. The officer then transported the subject back to the detox facility to receive further assistance.
Welfare Check
BYU Police were notified of an email from an unknown sender stating they were suicidal and needed help. An officer responded to the email to try and locate the person. After a few emails, the unknown person stated they were from Egypt and needed money to be sent to them. The email was determined to be a scam attempt. The email correspondence was saved and attached to this report.
Fire – Gas Smell
On August 26, 2025, at 2156 hours an officer responded to the Riviera to the complaint of a gas smell inside of a residence where a student was moving in. Provo Fire arrived and checked the residence and could not detect any gas on their meter. Provo Fire turned off the gas until the BYU on call from housing arrived to check the residence. BYU housing arrived and performed maintenance to the residence.
Property Damage
A police officer observed a vehicle backing out of a parking stall and colliding with the unoccupied vehicle parked behind it. The officer heard and saw the impact, which appeared to cause minor damage to the parked vehicle. Dispatch attempted to reach the owner of the unoccupied vehicle but was unsuccessful. The officer obtained the driver’s and vehicle’s information, documented the scene with photographs, and plans to attempt contact with the vehicle owner the following day.
Property Damage
Officers responded to a property damage incident in Lot 26, reported two hours after the event. Upon arrival, they discovered four vehicles sprayed with concrete. Contact was made with the owner of the concrete pumping company, who stated they would provide insurance details when available. The foreman supplied photographs of other vehicles that had left the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival. Officers successfully reached all remaining vehicle owners, provided them with the case number, and coordinated with the general contractor, who subsequently washed the cement from their vehicles.

Provo Paramedics and an officer responded to the Richards building lifeguard room on a report of a patient who had slipped, fell, and struck their head in the locker room. The patient was treated and released.

A technician responded to investigate, inspecting the affected area and determining that the alarm activation was likely caused by a faulty sensor. The technician advised that a replacement sensor would be installed to resolve the issue.

A BYU employee reported a male individual who appeared very pale and possibly fainted. The individual was found in the bathroom, where medical personnel responded. He showed signs of having possibly lost consciousness but did not fall and sustained no injuries. The male attributed his symptoms to something he had eaten. Medical staff transported him to the First Aid station for monitoring and assistance. No further help was required.

The student was found outside the building, working on a school project for his marching band class. He explained he had a rough day as they are preparing for the upcoming football season. The student’s glasses had been left inside the building after it closed, so an officer escorted him inside to retrieve them.

An officer and Provo Paramedics were dispatched to the Richards Building in response to a report of a male who had dislocated his hip. Upon arrival, Provo Paramedics assessed the individual, who requested transport to Utah Valley Hospital. The patient was safely loaded into the ambulance and transported without further incident.
Fire – Gas Smell
An officer responded to Wymount 9B to investigate a report of a natural gas odor. A tenant reported smelling gas near their water heater. The Provo Fire Department inspected the apartment but did not detect any gas leaks or odors. BYU Security Dispatch notified BYU Housing, who will send personnel to further inspect the water heater.
Agency Assist
While jogging, a complainant observed a female crying at a bus stop and contacted authorities. The female reported to officers that her boyfriend had slapped her while they were staying in a tent behind Denny's. Provo Police responded, as the incident occurred within their jurisdiction. They conducted an investigation and later transported the female to the train station.

An officer responded to Miller Park to assist with an agency assist call involving a domestic violence victim at the UTA Bus Stop. While aiding the other officer, the responding officer retrieved paper towels and a bottle of water for the victim from the press box. During this process, the officer discovered a door to the stands partially open and secured the press box by closing it.
Alarm – Carbon Monoxide
The BYU Police Department responded to an audible alarm in a room at Budge Hall in the Helaman Halls complex. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the room’s occupant, who reported that the smoke alarm was malfunctioning and would go off unexpectedly, despite a recent battery change. BYU Dispatch notified Housing to address and repair the issue.
Agency Assist
BYU Police were dispatched to an agency assist for a welfare check on a student who had not been heard from in approximately 24 hours. After contacting the students’ parents, officers were informed that the student had texted them and was returning to Provo. Nothing suspicious was found, and no further action was carried out.

The electrician indicated that they were testing an outdoor fire hydrant at the time, which may have triggered the alarm.

A security report indicated the presence of an elderly male suspect at the Marriott Center, despite being previously banned from campus. Dispatch reviewed surveillance footage showing the individual leaving the venue, boarding a bus, and arriving at Lot 45. Education Week staff confirmed that the male had registered for the event. Despite efforts by security and police, the suspect was not located on several searches. He was later contacted and referred for trespassing charges.

BYU EMS assisted her, applying a bandage to her arm and assessing her condition. After evaluation, she was released with no further action required.

BYU Police responded to the ITB regarding an employee experiencing a medical issue after reportedly passing out and acting abnormally. Upon arrival, the male individual became belligerent and uncooperative, initially refusing treatment from Provo Fire/EMS. After discussions involving his supervisor—who was also the reporting party—the employee became more cooperative, rescinded his refusal, and allowed evaluation. He declined ambulance transport but chose to accompany the reporting party to the hospital.

On August 21, 2025, at 0934 hours BYU police and EMS responded to a medical call at a shuttle stop on campus near the Broadcast Building. BYU EMS treated and released the patient prior to officer arrival.

An officer responded to the Richards Building to assist a minor experiencing a seizure. BYU EMS and Provo Fire personnel arrived promptly, evaluated, and treated the patient. The patient's mother, who was on campus at the time, explained that the seizures are related to panic attacks. After receiving treatment, the minor was released into the care of his mother by Provo Fire personnel.

BYU Police responded to the Y Trailhead at the request of the US Forest Service (USFS) regarding a drone operation in the area. Due to a current drone restriction in place while firefighters utilize aircraft nearby, officers coordinated with a USFS representative who provided details about the drone flight and the pilot’s coordinates. However, the drone pilot had already left the scene before law enforcement or USFS personnel arrived, and authorities were unable to locate the individual responsible.

An officer responded to the Richards building to assist an adult female who had a cut on her toes. The patient was in a wheelchair and was unable to clean the cut and place on the bandage. BYU EMS arrived and treated the patient.
Lost Property
An Education Week attendee reported losing their wallet while on campus. An officer took the report and advised the attendee to contact the university's lost and found.

An officer from the Dispatch Center was assigned to contact a BYU Education Week attendee regarding property damage to his bicycle. The complainant reported that BYU Security had impounded his Felt road bike earlier that day. Upon its return at approximately 6:00 p.m., the bike exhibited several damages: a scratched front carbon fork, a broken derailleur, and misaligned handlebars. The complainant stated he had left the bike on the east side of the Tanner Building without locking it to a bike rack and valued the bike at around $1,800. He inquired whether BYU Security would cover the repair costs. Photos of the bike and the damage were attached to the report. The case will be forwarded to Investigations for review and then forwarded to BYU Security for further action.

Upon arrival, a police officer determined that the female was not actually pinned but was attempting to maneuver her wheelchair out of the elevator with the doors held open by another individual. The female stated she had spent over 30 minutes trying to exit. Security footage reviewed by dispatch confirmed the incident. The female sustained no injuries but expressed concerns about the building’s accessibility for individuals in wheelchairs. The BYU Elevator technician was notified to address the issue.

Accident
An officer responded to a traffic incident at Wyview Park parking lot involving a BYU Kubota utility cart and a Ford Escape. The utility cart made front-end contact with the rear passenger side of the Ford Escape as it was backing out of a parking stall. The incident was determined to be non-reportable. A report was filed.
Sick Person
The BYU Police Department responded to a report of an individual who had passed out during a physical fitness test on the west campus outdoor track. Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel determined that the individual had experienced heat exhaustion and dehydration. Following a medical assessment, the individual was transported privately to Instacare for further treatment.
Lost Property
The complainant reported losing her wallet and notebook, suspecting they were lost somewhere between the MARB, WILK, and MOA areas. She later advised that she had found her notebook but still could not locate her wallet. Security reviewed surveillance footage from the MOA but did not observe her with the wallet at any point during her visit.
Property Damage
The BYU Police Department responded to a report of a traffic incident in Lot 22, located south of the BYU Broadcast Building. The incident involved a black Chevrolet Suburban and a silver Toyota Camry. The Suburban driver made a right turn while exiting a parking stall, executing a sharp turn that resulted in contact with the left front bumper of the Camry. There were no injuries reported.
Theft
RP reported to dispatch that he last saw his black Schwinn bike in early April, either on the bike racks near the LSB, the MARB, or between the CB and WSC. He noticed the bike was missing three days ago and requested a phone call to file a report. Attempts to contact the complainant have been unsuccessful; a message was left when he did not answer, and subsequent attempts to reach him have also been unsuccessful.
Theft
The complainant reported that she and her husband had securely locked their bicycles to a bike rack, but upon returning to retrieve them, both bikes were missing. The last time she saw the bikes was sometime in June. She does not have serial numbers for either bike but identified one as a light blue Cannondale and the other as a men's mountain bike in black and green. The case will be forwarded to Investigations for further information and follow-up.
Unconscious
An elderly woman experienced a fainting episode resulting in a fall and head impact. Although she remained conscious, breathing adequately, and appeared somewhat alert upon medical arrival, concerns regarding potential head trauma prompted paramedics to transport her to Utah Valley Hospital for further evaluation.
Animal Problem
A wildlife report was filed regarding an animal, potentially a badger, observed beneath a vehicle in the parking lot in front of the broadcast building. Responding officers arrived to find the animal moving freely in the vicinity. As crowds gathered for an event at the nearby Marriott Center, they were diverted around the area to ensure both public safety and the well-being of the animal. Eventually, the badger left the scene on its own, and no further action was required.
Dumpster Fire

An officer responded to a traffic incident at Wyview Park parking lot involving a BYU Kubota utility cart and a Ford Escape. The utility cart made front-end contact with the rear passenger side of the Ford Escape as it was backing out of a parking stall. The incident was determined to be non-reportable. A report was filed.
Sick Person
The BYU Police Department responded to a report of an individual who had passed out during a physical fitness test on the west campus outdoor track. Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel determined that the individual had experienced heat exhaustion and dehydration. Following a medical assessment, the individual was transported privately to Instacare for further treatment.
Lost Property
The complainant reported losing her wallet and notebook, suspecting they were lost somewhere between the MARB, WILK, and MOA areas. She later advised that she had found her notebook but still could not locate her wallet. Security reviewed surveillance footage from the MOA but did not observe her with the wallet at any point during her visit.
Property Damage
The BYU Police Department responded to a report of a traffic incident in Lot 22, located south of the BYU Broadcast Building. The incident involved a black Chevrolet Suburban and a silver Toyota Camry. The Suburban driver made a right turn while exiting a parking stall, executing a sharp turn that resulted in contact with the left front bumper of the Camry. There were no injuries reported.
Theft
RP reported to dispatch that he last saw his black Schwinn bike in early April, either on the bike racks near the LSB, the MARB, or between the CB and WSC. He noticed the bike was missing three days ago and requested a phone call to file a report. Attempts to contact the complainant have been unsuccessful; a message was left when he did not answer, and subsequent attempts to reach him have also been unsuccessful.
Theft
The complainant reported that she and her husband had securely locked their bicycles to a bike rack, but upon returning to retrieve them, both bikes were missing. The last time she saw the bikes was sometime in June. She does not have serial numbers for either bike but identified one as a light blue Cannondale and the other as a men's mountain bike in black and green. The case will be forwarded to Investigations for further information and follow-up.
Unconscious
An elderly woman experienced a fainting episode resulting in a fall and head impact. Although she remained conscious, breathing adequately, and appeared somewhat alert upon medical arrival, concerns regarding potential head trauma prompted paramedics to transport her to Utah Valley Hospital for further evaluation.
Animal Problem
A wildlife report was filed regarding an animal, potentially a badger, observed beneath a vehicle in the parking lot in front of the broadcast building. Responding officers arrived to find the animal moving freely in the vicinity. As crowds gathered for an event at the nearby Marriott Center, they were diverted around the area to ensure both public safety and the well-being of the animal. Eventually, the badger left the scene on its own, and no further action was required.

The male behaved oddly, talking about random topics and making staff feel uneasy. Although he did not threaten anyone and was not asked to leave, the officer provided the complainant with options to address the situation if they wished to prevent the male from returning.
Fire Alarm
BYU police responded to a fire alarm in Room 182 of the Ellsworth Building; they found a fire technician had already silenced and reset the system. The technician explained that the alarm was triggered by burnt popcorn in the break room.
Suspicious
An officer was dispatched to Lot 58 in response to reports of a male throwing suspicious packages near parked cars. Upon arrival, the officer discovered that the initial report was several minutes old, and the suspect had already left the scene on a bicycle. During the investigation, the officer located one of the packages, which appeared to be filled with bird seed.

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 0827 hours, officers and medical personnel responded to a medical incident at the Marriott Center. They encountered an adult female who had tripped while ascending the stairs, resulting in a fall that caused a laceration to her forehead from hitting the edge of the stairs. The female was examined and treated on scene before being released into the care of a friend, who stated she would take her to the emergency room for further evaluation.
Fraud
A complainant reported that her personal information—name, Social Security number, and date of birth—had been used without her consent to secure employment in Las Vegas. She discovered this incident through Medicaid when her husband applied for benefits. Currently, no suspect details are available. The case will be forwarded to Investigations for further action, and the complainant has been advised to contact credit bureaus to flag her information and monitor for potential misuse.

An officer and BYUEMS were dispatched to the Tanner Building for a lady that hurt her arm when the elevator doors closed on it. BYUEMS began evaluating the female and stated that they did not need law enforcement assistance.

Upon arrival, she explained that her knee had started hurting suddenly while walking, with no fall or injury involved. A BYU Records employee used a university van for her job duties. Upon returning, she accidentally scraped the passenger side of the van against a concrete wall in the underground parking lot. She was assigned a case number and was instructed to send photos and provide the van details once she had access to the vehicle again.

The BYU police department received a call from a citizen that could not find his vehicle in lot 59 and feared it had been stolen. Before officers made contact, the citizen called dispatch back to report that he had parked it in a different parking lot, but had forgotten.

A complainant reported finding a distressed 2-year-old boy outside crying. Before officers arrived, the mother claimed responsibility for the child. She and the child were observed walking into Building 17, with the mother stating everything was fine and the child appeared happy. The complainant was also contacted regarding the incident.

An officer responded to the scene, contacted the victim, and learned that the bike, which was locked to a bike rack outside the residence, was taken sometime yesterday or overnight. The lock had been cut, and the bike is registered with BYU. The case is under investigation.
