Unsecure Gate
An officer discovered the southwest gate at the NCAA Track and Field facility open during a routine check. After inspecting the area and finding no one present, the officer secured the premises by closing and locking the gate.

Suspicious Circumstance
Police officers responded to an intrusion alarm at the Marriott Center after two males entered through an unsecured exterior door. Security cameras showed the suspects briefly entering and then exiting the building. Officers conducted an extensive search but were unable to locate them initially. Dispatch later tracked the individuals to Helaman Halls, where they entered J Hall with a group of males. Both suspects were subsequently identified and interviewed. They admitted to the incident, expressed sincere apologies, and were released with documented warnings.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) – Alarm
An officer responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm at Wyview 24, where tenants had evacuated after accidentally leaving their stovetop on a low setting. Provo Fire arrived and measured a CO level of 50 parts per million, then ventilated the apartment. BYU Housing was notified to inspect the stove, and the on-call electrician requested the officer reset the alarm panel to clear the system.

Suspicious Circumstance
BYU dispatch received a report of a suspicious male near the Wilkinson Student Center, described as having "emerged" from the bushes, causing concern for the complainant. The incident occurred approximately 30 minutes prior to the call. An officer responded and conducted a thorough search of the area but was unable to locate anyone matching the description.

Theft
An officer contacted a Wyview Park resident who reported via the BYU Police website that a bag containing his E-bike charger was stolen from his bicycle at the bike racks near Freedom Blvd and Building 16. The resident believes the theft occurred within the past 48 hours. The officer reviewed nearby camera footage, but the bike was not visible on camera. The E-bike itself was not stolen, as it had been properly secured.

Criminal Mischief
An officer was dispatched to the Taylor Building after a custodial employee reported that someone had written on a newly installed "BYU Official's Parking Only" sign. The officer met with the complainant on the northeast side of BYU East Campus. A photo of the sign was taken and attached to the report. The writing was successfully removed using a cleaner and rag, with no permanent damage to the sign. Surveillance footage was reviewed, but no relevant recordings were found. There are no suspects currently.

Trespassing
BYU Dispatch received reports of two males observed on security cameras walking through Lavell Edwards Stadium after hours. It was noted that at least one individual was armed with a sword. Provo and BYU police responded promptly to the scene, conducted a search, and located both males. They safely disarmed the individuals; the juvenile was then contacted by an officer, who notified his parent and subsequently released him to their custody. The adult male was cited for trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, then released. The juvenile was referred to the 4th District Juvenile Court for trespassing and curfew violations.

Juvenile Problem
Police officers observed a group of three males transporting an office chair stolen from the loading docks of the JFSB. The juveniles were attempting to ride the chair down the ramp into Lot 14. Since the youths were out past Provo City curfew, officers contacted their parents, who arrived and took custody of them.

Unsecure Premise
Officers responded to a trespassing incident involving two juveniles at LVES. Upon inspection, they discovered that the south side north elevator was left unlocked, granting access to the press boxes on all floors. Additionally, two of the four doors leading from the stands to the press boxes were found unlocked. After addressing the trespassing, an officer secured the accessible doors; however, without an elevator key, they were unable to lock the elevator access itself.

Information
A BYU Police officer responded to a report of a possibly abandoned vehicle in Lot 60. Upon contact with the registered owner, it was confirmed that the vehicle was being used by his child attending FSY on BYU campus. The owner assured us that the vehicle would be moved within 24 hours.

Fire Alarm
BYU Police responded to a fire alarm activation in HR. The tenants reported no actions that could have triggered the alarm, and no flames, smoke, or other potential causes were evident. An officer silenced the alarm and contacted BYU Electricians to evaluate and address the malfunctioning system.

Fire Alarm
An officer was dispatched to HR 14 in response to an unknown alarm in the lobby area. Upon arrival, the officer determined the alarm was a "trouble alarm" indicated on the notifier panel and acknowledged it. The complainant, a resident assistant, requested an explanation of the alarm system and how to better address similar issues in the future. The officer provided general information about the alarm system and standard officer response procedures.

Welfare Check
An officer responded to a report regarding a homeless man and his emotional support dog inside the Tanner Building. Upon arrival on the third floor, the officer located the individual and his dog, who were present alongside a faculty member. The man was invited to speak to students at the Ballard Center of Social Impact.

Abandoned Emergency 911 Hang-up Call
Dispatch received an abandoned emergency 911 hang-up call originating from the Botany Pond area. Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, dispatch observed a young child pressing the call button and then continuing to play nearby. Officers responded to the area.

Medical
An officer responded to the JSB regarding a medical assist involving a 21-year-old female at FSY who had passed out. EMS evaluated her on-site and found no concerns. She was cleared to return to FSY and normal activities.

Chest Pain
A male adult was attended to by police and Provo Fire personnel at the Joseph Smith Building after experiencing chest pain. The individual reported that he had not lost consciousness and was not experiencing pain in his left arm. Following assessment and treatment by medics, the patient was deemed stable and was not transported to a hospital for further care.

Juvenile Problem
An officer responded to Chipman Hall after an FSY counselor reported that someone had been banging on the windows of two different rooms. Upon arrival, the reporting party was unable to identify or describe the suspect. The officer advised the FSY counselor that increased patrols would be conducted, particularly around midnight when the incidents appeared to occur. During subsequent patrols, no individuals were observed or contacted.

Unsecure Gate
At approximately midnight, an officer discovered the south grounds, and the vehicle rental gate left open. Upon inspection, no individuals were found on the premises. Noting that the gate is typically secured during this time, the officer closed and secured the gate to ensure the safety of the area.

Theft
An officer was dispatched in response to a reported theft involving a missing backpack. Upon arrival, the complainant stated that her backpack had been stolen. After reviewing security camera footage, it was determined that the complainant had inadvertently left the backpack in a different building. The complainant acknowledged this and stated she would check with the lost and found at that location.

Theft
An officer was assigned to investigate a reported bicycle theft at Wymount Terrace, building 5D. The complainant stated that their bicycle was stolen overnight. At the time of the theft, the bicycle was secured with both a U-lock and a chain lock. Despite these security measures, the suspect successfully defeated both locks and removed the bicycle from the location. The serial number of the bicycle is unknown, and there is no suspect information.

Suspicious
Officers were dispatched to the Tanner Building in response to a report of a suspicious male. Upon arrival, officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the individual. The male is known to officers from previous encounters on campus. At this time, he has not been banned from university property, and no criminal activity was observed or reported during this incident.

Welfare Check
An officer responded to the Rivera for a welfare check after receiving information from housing staff that an 18-year-old female may be suicidal. Officers attempted to contact her at the residence and by phone without success. The officer then spoke with the female’s father, who advised that she was safe and had moved to a different housing unit the previous day. He confirmed she was not suicidal and had recently spoken with her, a psychologist, and the housing supervisor to ensure her well-being. He requested that no further action be taken by law enforcement.

Trauma
Officers and BYU EMS responded to the intramural field for a report of a frisbee player with an injured ankle. The patient was treated on scene by EMS and released.

Accident – Hit and Run
The officer responded to a complaint about a possible delayed hit-and-run incident in the parking lot near the art building construction zone on July 12th. While surveillance footage located the complainant's vehicle, no specific time of impact could be determined. The officer documented the incident by collecting photos and obtaining insurance information from the complainant.

Fraud
A complainant visited the police department to file a report after being contacted by DMBA Insurance regarding multiple claims on his account originating from New York. The complainant stated he has never been to New York. Over the past three months, there have been twelve claims associated with his account. The insurance company advised him to file a local police report and obtain a case number to proceed with the investigation.

Welfare Check
A law enforcement officer responded to a welfare check at the request of a reporting party, who observed a female sleeping on a bench. Upon arrival, the officer met with the adult female, who appeared to have minor foot injuries but declined any assistance. The officer provided her with information about local community resources, and she subsequently left the area. No further action was required.

Fire – Alarm
An officer was dispatched to Budge Hall in response to a reported fire alarm. Upon arrival, the officer did not hear any audible alarm and proceeded to investigate. In the building’s basement, the officer located the main alarm panel and discovered active flooding in the area. It was determined that the HVAC shop was conducting repairs at the time and was unable to stop the flooding during their work. A fire technician later arrived on the scene and identified that the issue stemmed from a flood monitor that had been incorrectly programmed to trigger a fire alarm instead of a flood alarm. The technician confirmed they would correct the programming error.

Found Property
An officer was contacted by the housing manager at Wyview, a BYU Housing facility, regarding items found after tenants moved out of the apartments. The complainant reported the discovery of prescription medication, cigarettes, and a lighter. As the officer regularly attends weekly housing meetings, the complainant reached out for assistance in handling the items. The officer responded, took digital photographs of the medications for documentation, and properly disposed of the property at a local CVS Pharmacy drop box. The cigarettes and lighter were also discarded at the same location.

Fire – Alarm
An officer was dispatched to the LVES in response to a fire alarm. Upon arrival, the officer found a service worker performing maintenance on the generator in the room where the alarm had originated. BYU Electricians arrived shortly after, silenced the alarm, and inspected the area to confirm there were no issues or hazards present.

Fire – Alarm
The officer responded to Heritage on a fire alarm. No fire or smoke. The alarm was caused by steam from a shower. The officer silenced the alarm, and a fire tech was contacted to reset the system.

Welfare Check
A BYU Security officer reported an individual sleeping in a vehicle and requested a police officer to conduct a welfare check. The responding officer contacted the occupant, who confirmed she was okay.

Citizen Contact
A BYU Police officer was dispatched to contact a complainant regarding a delayed traffic accident that occurred approximately one week prior. The complainant had already obtained the other party’s information. The officer advised the complainant to resolve the matter through their respective insurance companies, as the incident was civil in nature. The complainant also inquired about potential video surveillance of the accident, but the officer was unable to locate any footage.

Accident
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at the main access point to WyView Park BYU Housing on University Avenue, just before 2230 N. A driver had struck a skateboarder who was crossing the driveway. Provo EMS responded but cleared the scene without taking any action.

Officers contacted both parties and investigated the accident. Minimal damage was found to the vehicle, but the skateboard was broken and rendered inoperable. Officers provided the skateboarder with a courtesy ride home to Orem.

Found Property
An officer responded to the JSB for a report of a found cell phone. While patrolling with the phone, it rang, allowing the officer to identify the owner as an FSY participant. The officer attempted to return the phone in person but received no answer at the participant’s door. After speaking with the participant’s parent by phone, it was agreed the officer would return the phone to the participant’s apartment at 0600 the following morning.

CO – Alarm
Housing RAs at Helaman Halls reported a flashing alarm light at Chipman Hall. No active alarms were showing in Security. A BYU Police officer and Provo Fire responded and found a flashing red light outside a mechanical room. The alarm, related to the halogen fire suppression system, was acknowledged. Provo Fire found no signs of hazardous gas, and there was no emergency. Housing Facilities and technicians were notified for follow-up. The area was deemed safe, and both the officer and Provo Fire cleared the scene.

Suspicious
Officers responded to LVES on a report of a drone flying over the football field. No items were seen being dropped from the drone. Officers searched the surrounding parking lots, Stadium Avenue, and nearby roads but were unable to locate the drone or its operator.

Alarm – Waterflow
A BYU Police officer responded to a waterflow alarm activation at the MTC. Upon arrival, MTC security confirmed the alarm was a false activation and requested that only BYU Police respond, as there was no need for Provo Fire involvement. The officer followed instructions, silenced the alarm, and successfully reset the system.

Unsecured Gate – New Arts Building
While on patrol, a BYU Police officer discovered the construction gate to the new Arts Building open and unsecured. The officer conducted a search of the construction site and found no one present. The officer then closed and locked the gate, ensuring the site was secured.

Agency Assist
While driving to the Y Trailhead on 820 North, a BYU Police officer observed a motorcycle lying on its side in the roadway near the intersection of 820 North and Oakmont Lane. An adult male was also found lying in the roadway with significant injuries, and motorcycle debris was scattered around. The motorcycle appeared to be totaled.

The officer immediately notified the BYU Dispatch Center and requested both an ambulance and Provo Police. The injured individual was initially conscious and able to speak but had serious injuries to his legs, hip, shoulder, head, and face. His legs were pinned beneath the motorcycle.

Provo Fire arrived, rendered aid, and transported the now-unconscious patient to Utah Valley Hospital. Provo Police took over the investigation of the single-vehicle accident. Officer Shelby McDonnell also responded and assisted with traffic control at the scene

Juvenile Problem
An officer responded to Heritage Building 9 regarding a juvenile-related concern. An FSY counselor reported that two juvenile males ran from the building after bedtime hours and believed they were part of the program. The officer spoke with the counselor, who was unsure if the juveniles had left the building and did not know their identities. The counselor declined to conduct a bed check, citing that it was their last night and the participants were scheduled to leave in the morning.

Unsecured Gate
During a routine patrol, an officer discovered that the southwest and central west gates of the NCAA track were found open. Upon inspection of the grounds, no individuals were present on the premises. The officer promptly closed and secured both gates.

Citizen Contact
An officer responded to Heritage Halls to assist a mother searching for her son, who had just completed EFY. The mother expressed concern about not being able to locate her son in the area. The officer checked the location where she had dropped him off prior to EFY and successfully located him. The officer then provided him with a ride back to Heritage Halls.

Abandoned 911 Call
A police officer responded to the Brewster Building after dispatch received an abandoned 911 call. Upon arrival, the officer conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area and interviewed multiple individuals. Those interviewed confirmed they were safe, had not witnessed anything unusual, and denied making the call. After determining that there was no apparent threat or suspicious activity, the officer cleared the scene.

Medical
An officer responded to 100 BNSN following a report of a 10-year-old camper who had been stung on the finger by a bee and was suspected of experiencing an allergic reaction. BYU EMS arrived on scene prior to the officer and provided medical attention to the child.

Citizen Contact
BYU Police responded to a delayed theft report at the ESC construction site. The reporting party had left a refrigerator outside to thaw, but upon returning, discovered it was missing. Reviews of security footage revealed two construction workers taking the fridge and placing it in their truck. The officers contacted the workers, who believed the fridge was free to take. They apologized and returned the item without incident.

Accident
An officer responded to Lot 4 following a report of a traffic incident involving a BYU vehicle that backed into a parked vehicle in a designated stall. Minor damage and no injuries reported.

Traffic Offense
On July 4th, during the annual Freedom Run, a delayed traffic offense occurred at the north entrance of Helaman Halls. Two vehicles bypassed traffic barricades designed to restrict access to Canyon Road, despite efforts by a Traffic student to prevent their passage. The situation escalated when the student attempting to enforce the barricades was subjected to verbal abuse. This case is being reviewed by investigators.

Accident
An officer responded to a traffic incident in Lot 26 after a complainant reported minor damage to their parked vehicle. The owner of the vehicle found a note on their window indicating that another driver had backed into their car. The officer contacted both parties involved and completed a non-reportable accident report.

Injured Animal
A BYU Police officer responded to multiple reports of a distressed deer with an apparent head injury, supported by photos from concerned callers. Recognizing the same deer repeatedly reported over several weeks, the officer located the animal on the west side of the West View Building. The deer was lying down and unusually approachable. Upon inspection, the officer observed severe injuries: missing an eye, broken and hanging antlers, and numerous lesions exposing the cranial cavity filled with maggots and parasites. The deer was clearly suffering, and with approval from the patrol sergeant and the Division of Wildlife Resources, the officer euthanized the animal to end its pain.

Medical
Provo Fire, BYU Police, and MTC Security responded to a report of a female missionary who was found unconscious. The missionary was with other missionaries at the time she lost consciousness and was helped to the ground, avoiding a fall or head injury. Witnesses reported that she had undergone a dental procedure earlier that day, during which she received five shots of anesthesia. At the scene, she was awake but appeared to be partially unaware of her surroundings. After the police cleared the scene, Provo Fire personnel prepared to transport her to Utah Valley Hospital for further evaluation and care.

Fireworks
Officers responded to a report of multiple individuals using fireworks near the Y Trailhead parking lot. Upon arrival, they contacted a group of adult subjects and confirmed they were in possession of fireworks. Two adult males, identified as BYU students, were arrested and later released on citation for fireworks violations. The surrounding area was inspected for fire danger or damage.

Accident
BYU Police responded to a minor traffic accident in Lot 12 involving a BYU-owned vehicle driven by an employee. The vehicle had backed into an unoccupied parked car. An officer collected the necessary information and provided both parties with driver exchange forms. No injuries were reported, and the damage was minor.

Information
A delayed lost property report was taken from a camp attendee at the Cannon Center. The complainant stated she left her camp bag outside the building with others as directed, but upon returning, the bag was missing and has not been located. The bag contained her wallet, Arizona driver’s license, gift cards, and approximately $30 in cash. There are no investigative leads at this time.

Injured Animal
BYU Police responded to the Westview Building (WVB) regarding a report of an injured deer. Officers located the animal and observed a head injury near its antlers. Despite the injury, the deer appeared to be eating and walking normally. After consulting with the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), officers determined there was no immediate need for intervention and decided to leave the deer undisturbed unless further action becomes necessary.

Sick Person
Police responded to the Y Trailhead for a report of a female in need of medical attention. Prior to the officer’s arrival, Provo Fire and BYU EMS were on scene and evaluated the patient. They determined that law enforcement assistance was not needed.

Accident
An officer was dispatched to Lot 23 for a non-reportable traffic accident. The incident involved Vehicle 1 backing into Vehicle 2 as it was passing by. The officer facilitated a driver exchange and provided both parties with a copy of the form, which has been added to the report file. Photos of the damage were also taken and included in the report.

Disturbance
Police were requested at the WSC for a suspicious male reportedly mumbling strange words toward FSY participants. An officer located the individual, who was sitting alone and away from others. The male denied needing assistance and appeared to be doing well.

Welfare Check
BYU Police were notified of a student security guard who was not responding to radio communications and were asked to conduct a welfare check. Before an officer arrived, dispatch was able to contact the individual by phone and confirmed they had simply missed the radio transmission.

Theft
BYU Police received a report of a bicycle stolen from the Helaman Halls area. Officers and Dispatch reviewed security footage and successfully identified the suspect. The individual was contacted and charged with theft. The stolen bicycle was recovered and returned to its owner the same evening.

Suspicious
A BYU security officer located an abandoned backpack on the east side of the HBLL Atrium and deemed it suspicious. Upon inspection, the officer was able to identify and contact the owner. The police response was cancelled by dispatch, and no further action was needed.
