Fire Alarm
An officer responded to a fire alarm at Wymount Terrace. The alarm was determined to be caused by cooking. A fire technician responded and silenced the alarm. The fire technician was made aware that the dispatch system was displaying an incorrect residence. No further action was necessary.

Assault
An officer responded to a report of a delayed assault at the Brimhall building. The officer met with BYU employees who reported that during commencement, a former staff member who no longer works for the University was visiting the Brimhall building. This individual physically grabbed the victim by her upper arms and shook her, blaming her for her husband's termination from the University. The victim reported that this assault caused pain to her arms, which lasted for 20 minutes. This case will be referred to detectives for additional follow-up.

Suspicious
Officers responded to the Y Trail regarding a report of a weapons offense. The reporting party observed a male on the trail carrying an ax. There was no reported threat, and the call was delayed by two hours. The male was not located.

Theft
Officers responded to a delayed bicycle theft at WP. No serial number was provided and there is no suspect information.

Criminal Mischief
During a patrol of East Campus, an officer found a broken window on the north side of the building and graffiti on the outer southwest corner near the gate. The officer is aware of an earlier incident report of graffiti, but the building care team had reported it as having been removed. This graffiti might be new or have been overlooked by building care.

Medical
An officer responded to the Richards Building for a medical complaint. The patient had a knee injury and was transported by Provo EMS to the hospital. This incident occurred during an intramural game.

Suspicious Package
An officer responded to the BRWB regarding a suspicious suitcase that had been left in the building. Upon arrival, the officer opened the suitcase and discovered it contained women's clothing and a blanket. No identification was found. It appeared the suitcase might belong to someone attending the Woman's Conference. The officer held onto the suitcase to await contact from the owner. The owner later contacted the dispatch, and the suitcase was returned.

Alarm
An alarm was reported at the ISB, a property owned by BYU campus. Upon arrival, the officer checked the property, focusing on the door that activated the alarm. This particular door has been the source of numerous false alarms in the past. No suspicious or criminal activity was found. The officer requested dispatch notify security about the door issue.

Theft
The BYU Police Department is investigating the theft of a blue cooler, skillet, cutting board, and bowl from the MBA lounge in the Tanner Building. The items were last seen on April 18th and were found missing on April 21st. Police are reviewing surveillance footage to possibly identify a suspect.

Alarm
An officer responded to multiple door alarms at the Ellsworth Building. Upon arrival, the building and surrounding area were secure, and the door alarm cleared after the officer conducted a security check.

Information
A complainant contacted BYU Police regarding court-sealed divorce documents allegedly posted online by the BYU Law Library. The officer advised the complainant to address any violations with the district court and assured him that his concern would be documented.

Graffiti – Criminal Mischief
An unknown individual tagged the south wall and glass door at East Campus, Wasatch School with the phrase "MOEK Sohsak" using a black charcoal marker. Despite ongoing construction and the building being locked at night, the south-side gate remains unlocked, potentially allowing access. The markings were quickly removed by the building care team.

Criminal Mischief
Officers responded to a report of potential vandalism at Helaman Halls' 'J' Hall, where the ice cream vending machines located near the east doors were damaged, leading to spoiled products. The officers are currently reviewing camera footage to identify a suspect.

Theft
An officer was dispatched to contact the complainant regarding a delayed report of an electronic scooter theft at West Campus. The scooter, which was locked to a bicycle rack outside West Campus, was stolen on the night of April 26, and there is no suspect information at this time. Officers will continue to follow up on the investigation.

Alarm
An officer was dispatched to the Student Athletic Building in response to a door alarm. Upon arrival, the officer located a custodian who informed him that they had accidentally triggered the alarm. The officer then cleared the scene.

Fire Alarm
An officer responded to an audible fire alarm at Heritage 5, Apartment 1204. The officer and the resident assistant entered the vacant apartment but could not locate any issues. The officer silenced the alarm; however, it was triggered again a short time later. Dispatch notified housing and the fire technician to respond and check on the alarm.

Lost Property
The officer was contacted by a group of individuals who reported losing their backpack. After checking the lost and found, the officer confirmed that the backpack was located there. The officer successfully returned the backpack to its rightful owner.

Officers responded to 16 campus alarms during this reporting period and multiple lockouts in various campus buildings.

Robbery – Alarm
Officers were dispatched to the Richards Building in response to a robbery alarm triggered at the information desk. Upon arrival, they observed an employee in the office rummaging through drawers, mistakenly believing he was attempting to open a roll-up door. It turns out he had accidentally activated the panic button instead. Officers reset the alarm system, determining the incident was a result of employee error rather than an actual robbery.

Accident
An officer responded to a minor traffic accident in the MB parking lot 27, where a Dodge Dakota scraped the side of a Kia Telluride while attempting to park. The damage was minimal. Both drivers exchanged insurance information, and the incident was officially documented. Digital pictures and exchange details are available in the report file.

Medical
During a convocation at the Marriott Center, an individual suddenly fell, prompting immediate attention from an on-site officer. The Provo Fire Department quickly responded to provide medical assistance to the fallen person.

Disturbance
Officers responded to a complaint at Lot 43 regarding skateboarders skating near parked vehicles, raising concerns about potential damage. Upon arrival, the officers conducted an extra patrol of the area but found that the skateboarders had already left. Officers then continued to monitor the lot, conducting additional patrols, but had no further contact with any individuals.

Medical Events
During an event at the Marriott Center, two additional medical incidents were reported to police and EMS. One individual suffered a fall, while another older adult male experienced chest pain. Provo Fire and BYU EMS responded to both calls for assistance.

Medical
BYU Police responded to a report of an unconscious student who had fallen in the Heber Grant Building (HGB). Provo EMS arrived to assess the situation and, after evaluating the student, determined that he was stable and cleared him at the scene.

Suspicious
An officer was dispatched to West Campus after a report of a suspicious stroller found in the parking lot. Upon arrival, the officer inspected the stroller and discovered a blanket and jacket inside, determining there was nothing out of the ordinary. After confirming the stroller's contents were harmless, the officer cleared the scene.

Medical
An officer and Provo Paramedics responded to a medical emergency at Wymount Terrace, where they evaluated a female experiencing health issues. After the assessment, the paramedics advised that she should be transported to the hospital. Her husband then drove her to the hospital in their personal vehicle for further care.

Welfare Check
An officer was dispatched to respond to a safe-walk alert after it lost connection. Dispatch reached out to the subject's roommate, who promptly checked the bedroom and found the individual safe and sound, having simply forgotten to end the safe-walk.

Traffic Offense
An officer was dispatched to Helaman Halls for a report of a SUV driving recklessly with people hanging from the outside of the vehicle. The call was delayed by about 10 minutes. The officer checked the area but did not find the reported vehicle. The officer and dispatch were unable to find an LPR hit to identify the vehicle.

Suspicious
Officers were dispatched to Smith Field House's Volleyball room following reports of a suspicious individual seen retrieving drinks from the refrigerator in a secured area. Upon arrival, they identified the individual as the building manager, who has authorized access to the room. No further action was required.

Medical
An officer and Provo Fire responded to a medical call at West Campus. A student had passed out; however, when I arrived with the fire department, she was conscious and alert. Provo Fire was assisting with her care, and police assistance was no longer needed.

Agency Assist
Officers responded to the Harold B. Lee Library to assist detectives from the Santaquin Police Department in apprehending a drywall contractor. With the help of BYU building security, officers successfully located and arrested the suspect. The BYU police then escorted the Santaquin PD officers to their vehicle, providing assistance until their departure from campus.

Accident
An officer responded to Lot 5 for a reported hit-and-run accident. The complainant stated that the back passenger side of his vehicle and the rear taillight were scratched by another vehicle. He mentioned that this is the second time his car has been hit this year. A security camera on the Engineering Building overlooks the parking lot, and the officer will review the surveillance footage to see if the suspect vehicle can be identified. The case is currently under review.

Found Property
An officer was dispatched to Smith Field House after a building care employee discovered a wallet while cleaning the bleachers. The officer contacted the wallet's owner using identification found inside and informed them of the situation. The owner has arranged to pick up their wallet from the front counter of the police station in the JKB the following day.

Suspicious Person
An officer was dispatched to the HBLL for a report of a suspicious male standing by a trashcan. The officer spoke with the reported individual and did not find anything suspicious about the individual. The officer did not see anything illegal about the individual's activities as they said they were waiting to give a friend a ride.

Criminal Mischief
The officer responded to the tunnel at Ellsworth Building regarding a report of criminal mischief. The officer photographed the graffiti and reviewed the cameras in the area but found nothing noteworthy. The report was forwarded to the investigations team to check with Provo PD to see if they recognized the tag. Dispatch submitted a request for the paint crew to respond to remove the graffiti.

Criminal Mischief
Report of an unlawful entry into a campus building in the East Campus area.
A caller reported that minor debris was scattered inside a building that is currently undergoing construction. Officers responded to the location, inspected the area, and determined that some minor damage had occurred. A security evaluation was conducted, and it was determined that additional security measures could be implemented. Currently, there is no ongoing threat to the public or the campus community. The case will remain under review for security measure evaluation.

Information
BYU Police were notified of a possible fraud attempt that had occurred in Virginia. The reporting party, a parent of a BYU student, received a phone call attempting to scam them out of money. Recognizing it as a scam, the parent did not send any money to the scammer. The reporting party requested that the information be documented in case BYU experienced similar incidents in the future.

Citizen Contact
A report was received regarding an individual potentially approaching campus who the caller believes poses a threat to them or their family member attending school there, based on prior interactions with the family. An officer contacted the caller to document the complaint and collect pertinent details. Currently, there is no immediate danger to the campus community, and university administration has been informed of the situation.

Lost Property
BYU Police received a report regarding lost keys in the BRWB. An officer collected the relevant details and documented the incident. The reporting party was issued a case number for internal tracking purposes.

Suspicious
An officer responded to a report of a suspicious drone flying above an apartment complex. After arriving at the scene, the officer conducted a thorough search of the area but did not locate the drone. The complainant preferred to remain anonymous and did not wish to be contacted.

Found Property
An officer was dispatched to pick up a wallet that was found in Lot 4 by the complainant. The officer identified the owner by a driver's license found in the wallet. The officer contact the owner and returned the wallet.

Trespassing
An officer was dispatched to the Bell Tower for a report of possible trespassers inside the building. The officer contacted the individuals inside the bell tower. One of the individuals was an authorized piano player who had been practicing. This individual is authorized to give tours and was doing so with some of his ward members. The officer did not find anything illegal in this incident.

Unsecure Gate
In the early hours of the morning, an officer on patrol discovered the NCAA main gate wide open at 2:00 AM. After thoroughly inspecting the grounds to ensure there were no problems, the officer proceeded to close and secure the gate.

Accident - Lot 26
A vehicle was attempting to park and hit another car while in the process. Very minor damage.

Welfare Check
An officer was dispatched for a welfare check at May Hall after a resident registered for a safe walk that hadn't been closed out. Upon arrival, the officer successfully contacted the student, confirming that she had arrived safely at her apartment.

Animal Problem
Officers responded to a call about a bat in the Talmage Building, reported by Building Care near room 3322. Upon arrival, they successfully removed the bat using specialized equipment from Risk Management, resolving the situation without any incident.

Information
BYU Police responded to a report of possible criminal mischief at the LSB bike racks after a third-party observer claimed a bicycle had been intentionally damaged. Upon investigation, an officer discovered a bike with a broken rear mudflap, but it appeared to be tipped over, suggesting accidental damage rather than vandalism. Since the owner of the bike is unknown, the case will be closed unless a victim comes forward.

Medical
Emergency responders were summoned to the Wilkinson Student Center following an incident involving a student employee at Cougar Eat who sustained burns on her right arm and leg. Upon arrival, an officer noted the employee was receiving care from her supervisors, who explained that the injuries occurred while she was attempting to retrieve a tray of hot beans, leading to a spill that caused the burns. Provo Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and transported the injured student to Utah Valley Hospital for further treatment. The officer also coordinated with dispatch to notify BYU Risk Management about the incident.

Civil Problem
Officers responded to a report of a landscaping company’s use of water associated with BYU campus property near the Riviera apartments. Upon arrival, officers contacted the landscaping employees, who confirmed they had been instructed by a BYU housing staff member to disconnect the water, which had already been done. Ongoing construction in the area involved Provo Power and an excavation company, while the landscaping crew was in the process of delivering gravel and briefly connected a hose to minimize dust. Officers informed the foreman to seek approval from housing for any future connections, despite previous permissions. The crew accepted a nearby water spigot on a different property to avoid further issues with BYU property, and it was noted that no additional water was needed that day.

Found Property
An officer responded to a report of a wallet found in lot 56. After contacting the complainant, the officer located the wallet and contacted its owner. The owner arrived at the JKB, retrieved the wallet, and confirmed that all contents were intact.

Found Property
In this incident, a law enforcement officer responded to a report of property found at the JKB. Upon arrival, the officer collected the laptop computer from the complainant and successfully identified its owner through specific markings and a name. The officer then returned the item to its rightful owner.

Lewdness
BYU police dispatchers monitored security cameras around Budge Hall following reports of planned pranks. During their observation, they witnessed a male repeatedly expose his genitals in public. The individual was identified and brought to the BYU police station for questioning, where he waived his Miranda rights. Subsequently, he was arrested and taken to the Utah County Jail on charges of lewdness.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm
A carbon monoxide (CO) alarm was triggered at the Riviera apartment complex. Provo Fire Department responded to the situation and conducted a thorough check of the apartment for any signs of carbon monoxide gas. Their assessment revealed no elevated levels of CO in the unit, indicating that the alarm was likely faulty. Following the incident, housing management was contacted to address the issue and arrange for repairs to the defective CO alarm.

Welfare Check
Police responded to Wymount Terrace following a report of screaming from an apartment. Upon arrival, they discovered that a verbal argument had occurred between siblings, one of whom was a juvenile. No physical violence was involved, and the situation had already de-escalated, with the parties separating. The mother of the siblings arrived and agreed to take the younger sibling to a different location for the night to help calm tensions.

Family Problem
An officer received a phone report regarding a family dispute involving a laptop computer. The complainant reported that his brother-in-law had taken back a laptop he originally gifted to his sister without permission, breaching their trust. After discussing various resolution options, the complainant and his wife decided to handle the matter privately within the family, enlisting the help of other relatives to resolve the disagreement, thus no further police action was required.

Welfare Check
A concerned citizen reported witnessing a vehicle speeding through the roundabout at the Wilkinson Student Center, with a passenger allegedly screaming for help. Campus security used surveillance cameras and license plate readers to identify the vehicle. A police officer then contacted the individuals involved, confirming their safety. They clarified that the incident was a prank, and no further action was taken.

Public Peace
Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a man yelling racially discriminatory comments near the Life Science Building. Upon arrival, an officer, with the vehicle window down, confirmed hearing a male voice using racial slurs. The officer located a man near the Benson Building, who initially refused to provide identification but eventually complied. The man denied making any racist remarks and expressed frustration over President Trump’s unfulfilled campaign promises. Despite his claims of visiting friends in Utah, he did not answer further questions regarding his presence on campus. After officers explained the complaint, they advised him to leave, and he stated he had called an Uber and would wait off-campus for his ride.
