Suspicious
The officer responded via phone to an incident reported the previous night at the MB. During the call, the officer spoke with the complainant, who provided details about someone tearing pages out of a book and leaving them throughout the building, including behind locked doors to which access should have been restricted. While discussing the matter, a student employee entered and admitted that they and some friends were responsible for the vandalism the night before. The complainant informed the officer that they would address the situation internally and no further investigation was necessary.

Accident – Hit & Run
An officer responded via phone to a minor property damage incident involving a vehicle being backed up by a traffic officer. The officer successfully collected the vehicle information and obtained a statement from the traffic officer involved. It was noted that all cameras in the area were down during the approximate 10-minute window when the accident occurred. An official accident report was completed, and risk management was contacted for further assessment.

Medical
BYU Police responded to the HBLL to assist BYU EMS with a student who had fainted. EMS evaluated the patient while the officer remained on scene in case of emergency. The student was released by EMS personnel.

Sick Person
Responding to a report at the MARB, officers and EMS personnel arrived to find a student who had passed out while exiting a class. Shortly thereafter, another student also walked out and fainted. The class was viewing a video of childbirth, which appeared to trigger lightheadedness in both individuals. Both patients were evaluated and medically cleared by BYU EMS, allowing them to return to class or their dorms. One patient was later transported by officer to their dormitory for further rest.

Accident
Following a minor property damage accident on 450 East near the Marriott Center north entrance, an officer responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the officer verified that all individuals involved were safe and not in need of medical assistance. An accident report was completed.

Suspicious
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious object believed to be an explosive device attached to a garbage can lid outside of the Benson Building. Police locked down the building and Provo police and fire departments were dispatched, and their bomb unit was called in to assess the situation. After a thorough investigation, the object was identified as a BYU waste management data collection instrument, and the area was cleared without incident.

Theft
On September 30, 2025, at 1720 hours, BYU police received a delayed online report concerning the theft of an electric scooter from Heritage 3 over the summer. The owner, who was tracking the scooter via an Apple AirTag, reported that the AirTag had ceased functioning approximately a month prior. Due to being busy, the owner had not reported the theft earlier. The complainant provided an address in Eagle Mountain where the scooter was last seen. An officer attempted to contact the registered owner of the property by phone, leaving a voicemail. The case was referred to investigators.

Accident – Hit& Run
The BYU Police Department received a report of a potential hit-and-run incident in the northwest corner of Lot 19. The complainant, contacted by phone, stated that they parked their vehicle at approximately 6:00 PM and observed damage upon their return around 7:00 PM. The vehicle owner expressed uncertainty about whether the damage occurred at that location or elsewhere. No surveillance footage was available to review the incident. Attached are photographs of the damage for reference.

Medical
BYU Police responded to the HGB to assist a student experiencing a seizure. Upon arrival, Provo Fire and BYU EMS had already attended to the patient and indicated that no law enforcement assistance was needed.

Medical
BYU Police responded to the JKB for a student who was having an allergic reaction. Provo Fire and BYU EMS responded and evaluated the patient. The patient was given a shot of epinephrine and was transported to the hospital by Provo Fire.

Accident
A traffic incident occurred on Campus Drive involving a vehicle and a student riding an electric scooter. BYU Police responded after reports indicated the student may have sustained a broken leg. BYU EMS and Provo Fire also arrived to assess the victim's condition, and the student was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Officers collected witness statements, documented the scene with photographs, and facilitated information exchange between the driver and the student. The investigation is ongoing.

Sick Person
Officer responded to WYMount regarding a medical incident, with assistance from Provo and BYU EMS. After assessment, EMS determined the patient required emergency care, but the patient refused ambulance transport, stating their spouse would drive them to the hospital. The spouse, lacking a valid driver’s license, requested a ride from the officer. The officer then transported the patient and spouse to the ER.

Accident – Hit & Run
The officer responded via phone to a hit-and-run incident in Lot 46. Surveillance footage was obtained, capturing the vehicle involved in the collision; however, the vehicle has not yet been identified. An accident report will be filed to document the incident.

Lost Property
An officer responded to the front counter after a complainant reported lost keys. The police/security staff contacted the complainant to inform them that the keys had been located. The officer attempted to retrieve the keys but was unable to do so at that time. The complainant was advised to return to the front desk between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to collect their keys.

Medical
BYU EMS responded to a report of a person feeling ill and potentially about to pass out at the Wilkinson Student Center loading docks. A BYU police officer also arrived on scene. Medical personnel assessed the individual and confirmed she was likely to be fine, noting she had not eaten or slept much recently. Following protocol, she was released without further incident.

Medical
An officer and BYU EMS responded to Heritage 12 regarding a reported allergic reaction. Upon arrival, BYU EMS provided initial treatment to the female patient. Provo Fire Department arrived shortly after and continued medical care, administering an EpiPen injection. Following treatment, the patient was transported to Utah Valley Hospital by Provo Fire for further evaluation and care.

Trespassing
An employee at the heating plant reported observing two males climbing over the wall into the cooling tower area and onto the roof of the facility. BYU police officers responded to the report, located the individuals, and identified them. Both males were issued citations for trespassing.

Suspicious
BYU Police responded to a report of a suspicious container chained to a stop sign near Lot 34. Upon arrival, an officer discovered the container was being used as a makeshift market, featuring a cooler with drinks and a QR code for Venmo payments. The officer notified BYU Security and advised them to address the situation during their next shift in accordance with campus policies.

Trespassing
BYU Police responded to the RB fields after noticing people using the fields despite the gates being locked and a trespassing notice posted. The officer contacted approximately 15 - 20 individuals, who admitted to using the fields despite knowing they were trespassing. The officer educated the individuals and warned them that they would be cited for future incidents.

Found Property
While on patrol near the SFH, an officer was approached by an individual who had found a BYU student ID card. The officer took possession of the card and later delivered it to Heritage Halls 10, where the student was located, and returned the ID card to its rightful owner.

Welfare Check
A BYU student initiated a safewalk through the BYU app online but failed to indicate that she had arrived safely. Somehow, the app disconnected from the student, prompting BYU dispatch to initiate a welfare check. The officer located her safe in her apartment at Heritage 11. The student had pressed the "Arrived at Destination" button; however, the safewalk app disconnected on her, and she did not see the follow-up text messages or calls from dispatch.

Welfare Check
An officer was dispatched to check on a BYU student who had initiated a safewalk but failed to notify dispatch upon arrival, and she hadn't provided an apartment number at the apartment complex. Using the safewalk app's GPS tracking, the officer found that she had arrived at the University Studio Apartments, matching her reported residence. Although she had not activated the "arrived safe" button, the GPS confirmation reassured the officer of her safety. Attempts to contact her via phone and messages to emergency contacts were unsuccessful, and multiple door knocks at the apartments yielded no success.

Fire – Gas Smell
BYU Police responded to Helaman Halls for a gas smell. Officers could not smell any gas upon arrival, and Provo Fire checked the rooms using a handheld carbon monoxide/natural gas sensor. They advised there was no residual gas readings in any of the apartments in the area.

Medical
An officer and medical responders responded to a report of a female experiencing a seizure. Provo and BYU medics arrived first and attended the patient, who was awake and alert at that time. The paramedic observed that nothing dangerous to her was present and advised that she did not need to be transported to a hospital. She was instructed to follow up with her doctor.

Unsecure Gate
An officer on patrol found Gate 2 at Lavell Edwards Stadium open and unsecured. The officer closed and locked the gate, then conducted extra patrols in and around the stadium, ensuring no one was inside.

Unsecure Gate
An officer on patrol discovered that the northwest gate to Helaman Field was open and unsecured. The officer closed and locked the gate, thereby securing the area. He then checked the remaining gates leading to the NCAA track and Helaman Field and found them secure.

Campus Alarms
Officers also responded to six alarms across various campus buildings and assisted with two lockouts involving faculty and staff.

Suspicious Person
Officers were dispatched to the area of Lot 1, south/east corner, in response to a report of a suspicious male who appeared out of place and was observed smoking. Upon arrival, officers conducted a thorough check of the vicinity, noting that it was lightly raining and that numerous construction workers were present, though none matched the suspect's description—heavy set with a beard and wearing a trench coat. Additional area checks included Lot 16, the ASB, and central campus.

Citizen Contact
A student reported that their scooter had been taken at the library. An officer reviewed video footage and located the scooter that had been moved by a university employee. Scooter returned to owner. Nothing further to report.

Suspicious Person
A report was received regarding a suspicious male seen entering the south side of the Harmon Conference Center. The caller described the individual as unidentified and wearing a mask. An attempt was made to identify the subject using vehicle plate information, but it proved unrelated. Video surveillance footage was reviewed with negative results. Law enforcement officers responded to the scene to locate the individual but were unable to find him. It is believed that the suspect may be a motorcyclist dressed in related attire.

Suspicious
Police responded to reports near Maeser Hill of an individual playing in the creek in their underwear. Upon arrival, officers searched the area but did not locate the person. A witness described the individual as an older woman, possibly in her 60s, who had removed her pants to her underwear and was joyfully playing in the water with her dogs. The witness suspected the woman might have been under the influence or mentally challenged, noting her carefree, childlike behavior. The woman reportedly walked northward about 5-10 minutes before officers arrived. Area checks and conversations with nearby students yielded no further sightings of the individual or her dogs.

Property Damage
A police officer responded to Wymount 6C following a report of property damage. The complainant stated that their vehicle, parked in the lot, had a scrape on the right mirror but was unsure of how, when, or where the damage happened. They suspected another vehicle may have caused the damage. The officer documented the incident by photographing the mirror and filed a property damage report.

Trauma
A male participant sustained an ankle injury while playing intramural basketball at the RB. BYU EMS and the Provo Fire Department responded to the scene, providing an assessment and medical evaluation. The injured individual declined transport to the hospital and was released on scene by medics.

Medical
BYU EMS, BYU Police, and Provo Fire responded to a report of a female experiencing a seizure. Bystanders observed the patient seizing on the ground but did not witness her fall or the onset of the seizure. One bystander placed a cushion under her head to prevent injury. Upon arrival, emergency personnel began treatment and assessment, contacting the patient's sister and another emergency contact. It was conveyed that the patient does not have epileptic seizures and had no head or neck injuries upon examination. The sister arrived and stated that the patient's seizures typically last between 5 and 45 minutes and that she did not require hospital transport. The patient was later left in her sister’s care.

Citizen Contact
A disruption in the Tanner Building occurred involving a student and an uninvited individual. A faculty member reported the incident to BYU Police. The visitor, who was identified as a friend of the student, appeared unannounced and did not leave immediately when asked by the faculty. The subject left a short time later. The individuals involved were interviewed, and the case has been documented.

Accident
A traffic accident occurred in Lot 39. The incident involved minor injuries, which were treated and evaluated on-site by medical personnel, with no transport to a hospital required. The responding officers documented the scene and injuries through photographs.

Information
An officer received a phone report of a hit-and-run incident involving a tan truck that backed out of a parking stall west of the Richards Building and collided with a parked car at the northwest end of the lot. The driver left without providing any identification or contact information. The complainant observed a dent and paint chips near the rear license plate of the damaged vehicle but did not record any vehicle details or take photographs. No security cameras covered this area, and the victim's vehicle was not present when the officer arrived. This case remains informational unless the victim is identified and files a damage report.

Medical
A female student sustained a leg strain while at the intramural fields. The BYU Police Department, Provo Fire Department, and BYU EMS responded to the scene to evaluate her condition. After assessment, she was transported back to her apartment by a friend. No further medical treatment was required.

Gas – Smell
A concerned tenant reported a smell of natural gas in the air while they were seated on their balcony. The Provo Fire Department responded and checked the complainant's apartment as well as the exterior of the building area but did not detect any indication of gas on their equipment or an odor of gas in the air.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm
Emergency responders, including Provo Fire and BYU EMS responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm at Wyview 14. BYU Security Dispatch initially contacted the tenant, who was feeling ill and disoriented, and advised them to evacuate. Upon arrival, medical teams evaluated the tenant and cleared them to return inside. Provo Fire inspected the apartment and detected a CO level of 45 parts per million. Following an inspection by a BYU housing employee and a gas company representative, the tenant was permitted to re-enter the apartment.

Information
An officer responded to reports from traffic students concerning flyers taped to doors across campus. These flyers, found on multiple buildings, included five distinct types promoting messages such as "Fight Fascism," "Black Lives Matter," and "Immigrants Make America Great." All the flyers were collected and removed from campus premises to ensure compliance with university policies. It is noted that flyers and advertisements must receive prior approval from BYU before being posted on campus property.

Follow-up
BYU Police conducted a follow-up investigation regarding an abandoned moped previously marked for impound. The moped was later impounded today by Don Shelly Towing. For additional details, please refer to the related incident report.

Welfare Check
The Complainant reported to BYU PD that a classmate had not attended class for an extended period and could not be reached by phone. A BYU PD officer successfully contacted the classmate, who confirmed that they were safe and accounted for.

Welfare Check
BYU Police responded to a welfare check after a student had not been heard from in several weeks. Provo police dispatchers successfully contacted the student, who confirmed she was fine. The student declined to provide additional details or her address but assured authorities that she was not suicidal and did not require law enforcement assistance.

Mental Subject
BYU Police Department officers responded to a report of a student on campus believed to be in distress. Upon locating the male student, officers observed that he was verbally abusive, yelling incoherent statements, and appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis. Due to probable cause, the officers involuntarily committed him to the local mental health authority for further evaluation and necessary medical assistance.

Public Peace
A caller reported that two young males were skateboarding through Lot 49 while playing loud music and acting obstinately. Officers responded to the scene but found no one playing loud music or engaging in any criminal activity.

Information
A BYU police officer responded to a report of a potentially stolen electric scooter near the bike racks on the south side of the RB. Upon arrival, the complainant was not present. Later, BYU dispatch contacted the individual, who confirmed he had found his scooter parked in a different location than he initially remembered, indicating it was not stolen.

Suspicious
Police were dispatched to investigate a suspicious incident near the Former Presidents Home (FPH). While attending a soccer game nearby, officers observed an individual walking on the carport adjacent to the FPH, who was then seen lying prone on the ground in a position resembling a sniper's stance. Responding units arrived to find the person lying on a block wall, watching the game. The individual identified himself and explained he was waiting for his girlfriend, who was attending a class in the Brimhall Building. Officers confirmed her identity, verified she was a BYU student, and confirmed no threat existed. The male subject apologized for any alarm caused. After completing their reports, officers cleared the scene.

Medical
The BYU Police Department responded to a medical emergency on the southeast corner of Helaman Fields. Upon arrival, they found BYU EMS and Provo Fire Department already on scene. The patient reported using foam bubbles to slide down the east hill and experienced choking and chest tightness after inhaling the foam. After assessment by medical personnel, it was determined the patient could transport himself home, with the option for his parents to take him to the emergency room if needed.

Medical
The BYU Police Department and Provo Fire Department responded to a medical incident at the Richards Building fields, located west of the Richards Building. Upon arrival, medical personnel discovered a soccer player who had sustained a sprained ankle.

Medical
An officer responded to the Wilkinson Student Center at BYU, where students had organized a roller-skating rink in the ballroom. During the event, a female BYU student fell and sustained an ankle injury. BYU EMS and Provo Fire personnel treated her on scene, and she requested ambulance transportation to Utah Valley Medical Center while speaking with her mother. The patient was transported by ambulance, and her mother was expected to meet her at the hospital.

Welfare Check
BYU officers responded to Helaman Halls to conduct a welfare check on a student who had requested a Safewalk via the BYU app but did not complete the request. Upon arrival, officers located the student at her residence, where she explained that her phone had died during her Safewalk. The student was found to be safe and at home, and no further action was necessary.

Information
A BYU student reported a civil issue in Lot 18 after discovering a disrespectful note left on their vehicle's windshield, containing name-calling and a comment about their parking. Concerned for their safety, the student requested the incident be documented for future reference. BYU Police responded by gathering information for an incident report, which will remain on record for informational purposes at this time.

Medical
A female student near the JKB at BYU experienced a seizure, initiating a response from BYU Police. Provo Fire also responded to assess her condition and later transported her to Utah Valley Hospital for further medical evaluation.

Accident – Hit and Run
A police officer responded to a report of a possible hit-and-run incident in lot 18. The officer checked nearby surveillance cameras but found no footage of the event. The officer documented the damage and other details provided by the caller for further investigation.

Theft
The BYU Police Department responded to a report of a scooter stolen from a bike rack near Helaman Halls. The victim reported parking her scooter there last Thursday at approximately 7 PM and discovered it was missing today at 2 PM. There are no surveillance cameras in the vicinity to assist with the investigation. This case referred to investigators.

Medical
A police officer responded to a medical emergency at the Wilkinson Student Center involving a student experiencing an asthma attack. The student did not have her inhaler and was treated by BYU EMS, who later called Provo Fire for further assistance. Provo Fire provided additional medical care before the student was released. Due to her weakness and lightheadedness from the treatment, the officer offered her a ride from the Wilkinson Center to her vehicle parked at the SAB.

Citizen Contact
BYU officers responded to the Wilkinson Student Center after a female student reported spotting a male student—who had previously victimized her over a year ago—on campus. Although she believed he had been banned, she was unsure of his current status. She was working with Title IV, who had earlier informed her of efforts to officially ban him. Officers accompanied her to her vehicle and coordinated with the BYU Victim Advocate, who is providing ongoing support and communication. Additionally, an officer followed her home to ensure her safety, as she was distressed by his continued presence. The university is actively working to address the situation and support the student.

Disorderly
The complainant reported that a group of boys exhibited disrespectful behavior towards the Resident Assistant at Stover Hall after being asked to leave the girls' dorm. Additionally, the group was found in possession of a broken pool cue, which was confirmed to be intact prior to their presence. Video footage is currently under review to identify the individual responsible for damaging the property.

Suspicious
A complainant requested an extra patrol after a group of boys were knocking on her window at Taylor Hall, causing disturbance. Law enforcement checked the area but did not locate anyone matching the description. Dispatch reported seeing on camera a group of boys walking eastbound from the area; however, their involvement was uncertain. The boys were not found during the patrol, and no additional reports were received.

Information
A police officer responded to a report of a possible hit-and-run incident in Lot 32. Upon reviewing security camera footage, the officer observed that no collision or incident had occurred while the vehicle was parked there, indicating that the damage was likely caused earlier and elsewhere.

Sick Person
BYU EMS responded to a medical call at the Harold B. Lee Library. Prior to the officer's arrival, BYU EMS determined that police assistance was not required.

Medical
An officer and BYU EMS responded to the Life Science Building on a report of a medical call. BYU EMS treated and released the patient at the scene without incident.

Traffic Offense
A graduate student was nearly hit in the crosswalk at 150 East, near the SFH, Lot 38. The student had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck, but the car did not stop. The officer reviewed the incident on camera and is working to determine the vehicle's owner.

Panic Alarm
Officers were dispatched to the ASB on a duress alarm in the basement, D-70. The building is vacant, so it is unknown how the panic/duress alarm was activated. Officers responded to the area and found the room vacant; it is possible that workers moving desks out of the room may have triggered the alarm. The officers noted no problems and also conducted a brief foot patrol of the area.

Sick Person
BYU Police and Provo Fire responded to a report of a sick person at a Wymount Terrace apartment. The complainant reported a headache. Provo Fire assessed the individual and determined them to be healthy enough to be released. Carbon monoxide (CO2) levels were checked and found to be normal.

Disturbance
An officer was dispatched to a disturbance at Heritage 9, where students were being loud and banging on the doors on the first floor. Upon arrival, the officer met with the resident assistant, who informed him that it was his friends goofing around and that he had taken care of the situation, so police were not needed. The officer then walked around the first floor for a brief additional patrol.
